I am having an issue, our company split and we have QB installed on a new server and workstations, and when the user goes into the "Enter Bills" there is a icon that saysd "Attach File", and on the old computer it shows a bubble saying how many attachments are in that area.  but the new computers it does not, the attachments are still there, but the users would like a notification showing that.

See the before and after pics.

thank you

Hello there, @MaxHeadroom75.

I'm here to help you restore the bubble on the Attach File button.

One of the possible reasons why you're not seeing the bubble anymore is because the connection between the Attached Documents and the company file was broken. This could happen because the company file was renamed or moved to a different location. To fix this, you'll need to re-link the Attached Documents.

First, let's go to the company file's location on your computer.

  1. Browse to the location where your company file is stored and open the Attach folder.
  2. Follow the steps that apply to your situation:
    • If there is no folder with the new company file name, change the name of the folder to match the new name of the company file.
    • If there is a folder with the new company file name:
      1. Open the folder with the old company file name.
      2. Copy and paste the contents of the Inbox folder into the Inbox sub-folder of the folder with the new company file name.
      3. Copy and paste the contents of the Txn folder into the Txn sub-folder of the folder with the new company name.

Then, open QuickBooks Desktop.

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Click Documents.
  3. Select Repair Attached Documents Links.
  4. Click Repair Links.

Once done, your attachments should be re-linked and the bubble will appear on the Attach File button.
