Is there a way in QuickBooks Desktop, to run a report that will tell me if a budgeted number has been changed from what was originally input for that account number?  Something like an audit trail report, but for budgeted amounts?

No, there isn't.

Hello there, @gr151.

Yes, @BigRedConsulting is right. The report which provides an audit trail for budgeted amounts and tracks changes from the original input, is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I completely understand how convenient and helpful it would be to have the report.

In the meantime, it's best to relay your feedback directly to our Product Developers. Your input is of great interest to them, and they highly encourage you to share your suggestions by providing feedback.

To send your input, here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click Product Suggestion.
  3. Choose a feedback type and product area on the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. Enter your suggestion or feedback, name, and email address (optional).
  5. Select Send Feedback Online.

Also, I'd recommend visiting our QuickBooks blog sites to keep you in the loop about the current news and product developments:

This is really disheartening that QuickBooks doesn't include budget as part of the audit reporting.  I entered month-by-month budget for 6 different classes before the start of our FY reporting.  I successfully reported for three separate months to our board using budget to actual reporting.  Unfortunately, when I went to do this month's financial reporting, all the budget figures are blank.  I had a lengthy text conversation with a QB tech rep who was unable to help me.  They suggested that I must have had a corrupt back-up file at the beginning of our fiscal year.  But then why have 3 months of successful reporting and then it disappears.  How incredibly disappointing.
