Question

Auto-Fill Custom Fields Based on other values

Does anyone know of a third part app (or other way) to auto-fill form fields based on rules?

We have a custom field on our estimate form to assign a sales rep for the transaction. However it's not possible for a data entry clerk to know which of our hundreds of customers is managed by which sales rep. We would like to assign a rep to each customer record and have the custom "Rep" field auto populate with the name of the rep assigned to that customer.

Any other way to do this would be appreciated as well. Anything that will allow us to create an estimate and have the customer assigned rep auto-populate on a field in the Estimate.

Good day, @ChiColorLabel.

I've come up with information that can address your concerns about automatically auto-filling custom fields like Rep based on other values.

I recognize the convenience of having a community to communicate with their recommended apps. However, we're unable to suggest a specific one. Please check out this page for the list of applications you can integrate with us: QuickBooks App. From there, you can read other users' experiences and decide which one best suits your needs.

You're right. QuickBooks Online allows you to create a custom field for a rep. However, the ability to auto-populate the customized Rep field assigned to a customer is unavailable. I agree that this idea will benefit other users like you. That said, I recommend sending feedback requests to our Product Developers.

Here's how:

1. Select the Gear icon.

2. Select the type of feedback in the box.

3. Click the Next button to submit.

You may track the status of your summited feedback with this page: QuickBooks Online Features Requests page.

With all of that information, you should submit your idea to our developers. If you have any more questions about utilizing the rep field, I am always here to assist in whatever way I can. In the meantime, I hope you have a great day.
