Auto Generating Classes in QB Online

I have Class tracking turned on, and I have added the class I want to the item itself but when I do an invoice the class does not auto populate for that product, I still have to click down the menu per transaction line. Is there not a way that it will automatically generate this?

We're pleased to have you here in the Community, TAC Team.

I'll help you perform some troubleshooting steps to auto-populate classes for specific products when creating invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Since you've added a class directly to an item, it will auto-populate an invoice once you prefer assigning one class by line item to customer transactions (One to each row in the transaction).

However, since this isn't the case, let's troubleshoot your browser to isolate related issues. This behavior can be caused by corrupted cache files, which we should avoid upon using the software.

To begin with, you can proceed to these keyboard shortcuts to access your account through a private window:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

After a successful attempt, switch back to your regular browser and clear its cache. You can also utilize the system's supported browser to ensure the best and most secure experience.

Moreover, consider running reports by class to gather valuable insight from your sales, costs, or profitability by business segment. You can customize this data to display specific information that meets your business needs.
