Hello,

I am getting ready to purchase a new PC and need to know the best hard drive type to use for QBks Desktop Pro. We currently have 2019 but I want to plan for future Quickbooks upgrades. We are a church with only 3 users accessing it via multi-users and the 1 PC. I'm looking at Dell XPS 8940 custom configuration.  Any instruction provided is very much appreciated!   Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to us, @ddw_23.

Yes, you're right. You can store your QuickBooks data file on a solid-state drive (SSD) for best performance.

Also, for additional requirements for Intuit Data Protect in QuickBooks Connected Services offerings, it requires a minimum of 4.0GB of RAM and twice the size of the largest file set to back up + 100MB or twice the size to restore. Its space is only required from the work folder LocalApplicationData+" Intuit\Intuit Data Protect".

For more details, check out the system requirements that I've shared above.

I'm also adding this article to further guide you in managing the growth of your business using QuickBooks: Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.

If there's anything else you need help with, please reach out to me. I'd be sure to jump in as soon as I can. Thanks for posting and have a great day.

Hello there, @ddw_23.

I want to officially welcome you here in the Community space. I can share some insights about the hard drive type that you can use in QuickBooks.

There are a lot of good options for Hard drive you can use to get the best QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) experience. For the best performance, we recommend storing your QuickBooks data file on a solid-state drive (SSD). However, it'll be up to you to decide which is the best one to use.

You just need to make sure the hard drive meets the minimum system requirements for the QBDT program. This will ensure the system is compatible with your setup and help avoid any possible issues when installing and using it in the future.

Depending on the version of the QBDT program you want to install on your computer, you can refer to these articles about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QBDT:

Please don't hesitate to add a post/comment below if you have any other QuickBooks questions, I'll be right here to help you however I can. Wishing you the best!

Thank you for the welcome and quick response!  So that I'm clear, should have have a SSD for the QBks company and data files and another hard drive for the OS and QBks program?

Thank you!
