Billing Against Estimate

We are using QB Desktop Pro Plus and have created an estimate for a job. My boss wants me to bill the purchase of equipment against the estimate. The amount for the purchase of the equipment is 8% of the total estimate. He doesn't like how it looks when we progress bill and wants it to be quantity of 1 (which would change the % to 10% which is more than what we are billing for the equipment). I tried changing the items on the progress bill to not show a quantity or the estimated amount, but he didn't like that format either. He wants it to look like a regular invoice (able to bill multiple quantities, not percentages) but still billed against the estimate. Is there a way to do that or am I chasing my tail? I appreciate all the details you provided regarding what you need to achieve for your total estimate. At this time, you can only bill the purchase of equipment using the estimated amount.

This kind of feature wherein you calculate the purchase when adding to an invoice is currently unavailable. The invoice will only show the quantity rate and amount and not the percentage of the purchase. You may add a description to view the details on how it was calculated.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue when I create an invoice from an estimate. Most of our invoicing is an amount (not a percentage) of the job when work is completed. Have the developers been able to change this so I can enter a lump sum of the estimate rather than a percentage of it?

I have some information about entering a lump sum amount of the estimates when converting to an invoice. Currently, the option to enter an amount is unavailable.

I can see how this option helps us to provide a more customer-friendly product interface. Rest assured, your ideas will be shared with our Developers. Though, this may take time for them to implement this.

I'd still encourage sending feedback about this option through this link: feedback.qbo.intuit.com

Meanwhile, you'll have to manually enter the amount in each item to create an invoice with the lump sum amount.
