Question

Can I adjust the alignment of the 1099 form to match the preprinted form another way than from the print page?

It's nice to see you here, mclellandaz. I'll be glad to provide other ways to modify the alignment of the 1099 form and match the preprinted one.

Misalignment when printing forms and other transactions can be a website or a printer issue. Intuit recommends using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for printing. Since you're having trouble with the process, follow these steps:

For Chrome:

1. On your Chrome, click on the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner, then click Settings.

2. Select Privacy and Security and then Site Settings.

3. Pick Additional Content Settings, then PDF Documents.

4. Enable Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome.

5. Try printing your 1099s again.

If the alignment is still off, tap the More Settings dropdown in the print window and make sure that Fit to Printable Area or Fit to Paper is not selected in the Scale dropdown.

For Firefox:

1. Go to the menu ≡, then choose Options on your Firefox.

2. Select General.

3. Find Portable Document Format (PDF) in the Applications section.

4. Pick your PDF viewer from the dropdown menu in the Action column.

5. Print your 1099s again.

If you're using Microsoft Edge or Mac, refer to this article for the instructions: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.

Use this guide in case there are any corrections after you e-filed them: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

Kindly update me on how the steps above work so I can provide some more troubleshooting if necessary. I'll be right here anytime. Take care.

Thank you. I did follow all of these steps before I posted the question to no avail. I ended up taping the 1099 form to a blank piece of paper at the adjusted height necessary to align the form. Not the best way but given the circumstances it worked.
