Can I create a file from quickbook online to send to my account who only uses quickbook desktop?

You can convert data from QBO to QB Desktop whenever you need it and send the backup file to your accountant. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to do so or purchase a 3rd party conversion service.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) are accounting software on different platforms. Thus, you can perform some features in QBDT but not in QBO and vice versa. You can refer to our QuickBooks website to compare the two products.

Moreover, I understand that your accountant prefers to use the desktop version. If you want to switch to QBO, and still want your accountant to use the desktop to access your files in your account, you can export your QBO data to the desktop. However, this process can be time-consuming as you will repeat the process each time you want to send a copy to your accountant. Additionally, your accountant can't send you a copy of changes made on the desktop, such as reconciled accounts, and import them into QBO because these changes need to be manually recorded and managed exclusively in QBO.

If you want to use QBO as your accounting software, I recommend inviting your accountant to QBO so they can still access your data and files seamlessly.
