Can I migrate my business from online to 2018 Quickbooks?

I had a bookkeeper who did everything online, but now I'd like to simplify and go back to my trusty desktop QB 2018 version. My business is not large, I need to cut spending wherever possible and I'd prefer to not have to pay a subscription fee. I'm currently using Simple Start, is it possible to migrate back to 2018? I have heard it's possible and that there's a work-around.

I see you're looking to migrate your business from the Online version to the QuickBooks Desktop 2018, @forestqueen.

I've got your back to help move your data successfully.

Directly migrating from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop 2018 is currently unavailable. Since QuickBooks Desktop 2018 is now considered an outdated version, there isn't a direct migration path from QBO to the Desktop platform.

However, there are alternative options we can consider. One is to use a third-party converter tool that can help you convert your QuickBooks Online data into a format compatible with QuickBooks Desktop 2018. These tools are designed to facilitate the migration process and ensure that your data is transferred accurately.

Another option is to manually export your transactions and lists from QuickBooks Online and then import them into QuickBooks Desktop 2018.

Moreover, I'll be sharing this resource to give you an idea about the limitations that you may encounter when converting your data from QBO to QBDT. By being aware of these limitations and taking necessary precautions, you can ensure a successful migration and minimize any disruptions to your business operations: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

I hope this clarifies the situation for you. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance with managing your data, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be around to assist you.

Do you have a recommendation for a converter tool?

Helping you find the best migrating tool is my goal, @forestqueen.

In QuickBooks, we treat every business fairly and we believe that what works for some might not work for you.

While I'm unable to provide you with a specific converter tool, I can however give you our marketplace link where you'll be given lots of options and even personal recommendations from other customers as well who were able to use the tool.

You just have to visit this page and enter some keywords like "migrator" in the Search by name, keyword, job, or category field: Apps help QuickBooks run better.

To help you decide which is best, I'd suggest taking some time to visit the Reviews section of each application for a better recommendation.

Once successfully migrated to QuickBooks Desktop, please know that this uses different types of files to store different types of data such as y our main company files and backup files. To know more about this, check out this additional reference: File types and extensions used by QuickBooks Desktop.

Please get back to us whenever you need extra help in managing your company file and migrating it to QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be right here to provide some more information to make sure everything is accurate. Keep safe.
