I only have 4 1099's to print.  I have my own forms.  It seems QB is going to make me pay to print my own?  I know how to file them by myself.

Yes, you can, ssf1231.

Since you have your 1099 forms, printing them without fees is possible in QuickBooks Online. You'll only have to pay the $58.99 if you've ordered 1099 kits that include made-to-fit envelopes.

From there, you'll want to review the alignment setup when printing 1099s. Here are the steps:

  1. Navigate to Payroll on the left menu, and select Contractors.
  2. Click Prepare 1099's and select Let's get started to prepare your 1099 forms in QuickBooks. Then, walk through the module until you're on Step 5 - File.
  3. Select the Print and mail button.

  4. Choose 1099-MISC from the form type section and press the Print sample on blank paper. If it's not aligned on your form, click the No, it doesn't line up button, adjust the alignment, and hit Next.

  5. Click on the Print on 1099 forms button on the Final forms page.
  6. Review the form and select Print.
