Can mobile app be used to track mileage for with QB Desktop for Mac

I have QB 2023 V22.0.5 R6.1 

I am the admin on the account but do not see where I can sync my company with the QB Desktop mobile app.  Is that app only for PCs? 

I don't see in my desktop menu under the Company tab dropdown anything about mileage except entering mileage rates and entering mileage manually.  If there is not an option for linking to a mobile app will that be an upcoming feature for the Mac Desktop?  Thank you.

Hello Erika,

 

There is no company to choose and no Switch to click on.

 

"Open the QuickBooks Desktop app.  Choose the Company you want to enter the mileage for and then click Switch.  Select Track vehicle mileage.  Hit Get started.  Choose the + (plus) button"

 

 Here is what appears on my phone. I can not link to the app in my QB Desktop for Mac since there is no My Company in drop down menu for Company Tab.

My drop down menu on my laptop is as follows:

 

I need to find out how to have my company listed on the mobile app in order to record mileage.

Let me share additional insights about tracking mileage in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

 

The option to automatically track mileage is only available for iOS. You can only track mileage manually if you're using the Mac version. That can also be the reason why you don't have the option to link to the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app. See this article for more details on manually tracking mileage for Mac: Track mileage QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

 

In the meantime, you may consider looking for a third-party app at the QuickBooks App Store to help you with automatically tracking mileage for Mac. 

 

Also, you'll want to send feedback to our Product development team to study this feature and may add this to future enhancements. Your feedback is valuable to Intuit. Our Product Development team will review it and consider it in future updates. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. In QuickBooks Desktop, click on Help at the top.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Enter your product suggestion.
  4. Then select Send Feedback to confirm.

I recognize the convenience of tracking mileage through our mobile devices, @Susan607. Let me share some information about this. 

 

Yes, we can track mileage through our devices. However, this is only available for iOS. To begin with, we must install the mobile application. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the App Store. 
  2. Search for QuickBooks Desktop. 
  3. Click Install and then Run. 

 

To begin tracking using the mobile app, we can: 

 

  1. On your iOS device, choose Track Vehicle Mileage. 
  2. Select the Plus (+) icon. 
  3. Fill out the trip details. 
  4. Hit Save. 

 

Also, it's important to note that we have to use the Advanced version of the Track Vehicle Mileage to view the trips tracked on the app in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

 

Perform the steps below: 

 

  1. Go to the Edit button and choose Preferences. 
  2. Select Time & Expense, and click Company Preferences. 
  3. Under the Track Mileage menu, hit Advanced version.

I have the app installed. When I "Track Vehicle Mileage"  it says I don't have a company linked. I am the admin.  When I to to the drop down for "Company" on the top menu, there is no "My Company" to select in order to sign in to my intuit account.

Since we've already installed the application on our mobile devices, we have to set it up first to begin tracking mileage. 

 

Here's how:  

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop app. 
  2. Choose the Company you want to enter the mileage for and then click Switch. 
  3. Select Track vehicle mileage. 
  4. Hit Get started. 
  5. Choose the + (plus) button. 
  6. Fill out the trip details and click Save. 

 

Then, we can review and approve the trips in QuickBooks Desktop.
