Can't log out of the Test Drive

I have a student who can't log out of the Test Drive (Craig's Design and Landscaping). She clicks the circle in the top right and her entire screen goes dark. She has tried on both her phone and laptop, using Chrome and Firefox. Without logging out of the test drive she can not log into her own company for the class. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Attached is a screenshot of her getting very frustrated and her darkened screen after clicking the blue circle that would normally open the sign out box.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Sniedziocha

I appreciate your student for taking some steps to fix the dark screen issue after clicking the logout option. I can also see that things have been challenging for her on this matter. Let me provide troubleshooting steps to resolve this and ensure your student can log out of the QuickBooks Online test drive smoothly.

Sometimes a cache full of history and temp files can cause unexpected behaviors, such as getting a dark screen when logging out of the QBO. I recommend advising your student to access QuickBooks using a private browser. Then, log out of the test drive from there.

The student can use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, she has to clear the cache of your regular browser. This clears the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above don't work, use another supported browser.

Lastly, I'm also adding this article and sharing it with your student if she needs further guidelines on how to effectively handle the business using QBO: Help guides for QuickBooks Online.

It'll always be my pleasure to help if you have any other concerns besides working with QuickBooks. Please let me know by clicking the Reply button and leaving a comment below, Sniedziocha. Stay safe!
