Can Venmo transactions be imported into QB Desktop for Mac?

Payments from Venmo are recorded in my bank account as deposits without, naturally, identifying customers.

Is there a way to set up QB for Mac to import and identify the customers the payments are attributed to?

Thank you.  Much appreciated.

Explore to use one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.

Good day, @Susan607.

If you mean setting up an automatic way of associating the imported transactions with customer payments, there is a way to set this up in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac using bank rules. Let me provide further info on this.

The Venmo payments are recorded as deposits because the bank usually records everything as a single record with one total to match real-life transactions. I suggest reviewing your bank statement to confirm this. In this case, you need to match the imported deposit transactions with the recorded transactions to associate them with corresponding customers' payments.

If you set up bank rules, QuickBooks will automatically add them to the register based on the created rules. Here are the general steps for creating bank rules:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Select Bank Feeds, and then Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Select Rules, then select Add Rule.
  4. Enter a Rule Name, then select if it's Money In or Money Out or Both.

Please refer to this article for more detailed steps: Create rules to categorize transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

After adding the transactions to the register, please refer to this article about reconciling accounts: Reconcile accounts in QuickBooks for Mac.

Let us know if you have further updates on associating deposits with customers' payments. We're always here in the Community to assist. Take care.

I am familiar with bank feeds and naming rules.  My question has to do with a 3rd party app like Venmo that does not create .qbo files.  They only export .cvs files.  Since upon bank import those transactions are only listed as deposits from Venmo with the amount, I'm trying to see if I can import Venmo as if it were a bank and associated customers with amounts received into Venmo "bank account" in QB and have the deposits listed in my actual bank as credits to the Venmo "bank account".

I will try the csv2qbo recommendation by 4Gal located at moneythumb.com

Thanks for the reply.
