Question

Can you separate Jobs from Customers in Premier Plus 2024?

We are a non-profit and don't need Jobs as they are configured to Customers in Premier Plus 2024, which is more like a construction company. We need to track issue areas across the G/L and Classes for finance and grant reporting, especially P&L by issue area. Does anyone know if Jobs can be untethered from Customers? Or can we create a special field? Tried the memo field but that doesn't work for what we need. TIA for any help!!!

Separating Customers from Jobs is not possible in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Liberty4All. However, you can efficiently track your issue areas using custom fields. I’m here to provide you with the steps.

Since you've already utilized the Class tracking feature, you can further enhance your tracking by adding custom fields to your sales forms and reports. This will allow you to generate specific data fields to emphasize your issue areas and other important details.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Select the CustomerVendor, or Employee menus. Then select Customer CenterVendor Center, or Employee Center.
  2. Double-click any profile on the list to open and edit it.
  3. Select the Additional Info tab. Then select Define Fields.
  4. Name your custom field in the Label column.
  5. In the Use for column, select the checkbox to add the custom name field to customer, vendor, or employee profiles. You can track the same info for all three groups.
  6. Select OK to save the custom field.

Then, refer to the Add custom item fields to a sales forms part of this article to include the fields to your sales forms: Create and use custom fields in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can then customize your reports to show these fields specifically.

Additionally, you can memorize your reports to save your current customizations.
