Cannot Log in to Company File - "Password" field is greyed out 2023 /desktop pro

QB's user since 1992. Currently in (clean a clean install)  2023 Desktop Pro. Crippling problem, locked out. Two things occurring

 

1/ QB program crashes while working in a company file, (no particular activity) but intermittent and happens with various companies. Cannot close, cancel, X-out of program then the computer will not respond to a "restart", is needed to launch the again.

2/ Program launches, Select a company file to open but the "password" field is greyed-out and will not take input.

Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise and run it at the same time with QB Desktop 2023 Pro. Does the same problem also occur on Enterprise?

I appreciate you for sharing the complete details of your concern. You may encounter such an issue if your data is damaged. Not to worry, we can repair your company file using the Rebuild Data tool. 

 

First, let's download and install the QuickBooks Tools Hub:

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  4. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Once done, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

 

Then, let's run Quick Fix my Program. It will close any open background processes QuickBooks uses and run a quick repair on your program. Here's how:

 

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

In case you encounter difficulties logging in, you can easily reset your password in QuickBooks Desktop. Doing so ensures you can regain access and start working on your file.
