Cash Deposits from Unknown Customers

I'd be glad to assist you today in recording unknown cash deposits with the account you want to use in QuickBooks Desktop.

The good thing about QuickBooks Desktop is it lets us record a bank deposit without filling up the Received from field (customer's name/ payee).

Here's how:

1. Go to the Banking menu then select Make Deposits.
   
   
    
2. Select the account you want the deposit to be recorded to in the Deposit to field.
3. Choose the Date and select an account from the From Account dropdown.
4. Enter the Amount.
5. You can also enter a Memo indicating that it's a deposit from an unknown customer.
6. When done, hit Save & close or Save & new.
