change vender, and amounts for property tax

I got  a tax bill in the amount of $8060.97 from my local town. I got an option of paying that amount + a small % fee in installments, with 1 part being due right away, and the other parts with 3 later due dates.

2 points 1-the first bill was payable to the town if I do installments only the first part goes to the town, the later payments goes to the county. 2nd their is a small added % fee if I pay with instalments.

Originally i entered the full invoice to the town, but now only the first part was paid to the town the rest goes to the county.  Is their any way to update the first invoice that it should be paid in later due dates to a different vender (county), Or i should just update the first invoice from the town to the amount being  paid to them and the rest enter in separate invoices for the county?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You're correct, MMK48. QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) lets you modify the vendor on a payment check. I'll outline the specifics below.

While QuickBooks Desktop allows you to change the vendor or payee on a payment check, doing so will change the vendor associated with all past transactions related to that payment. As a result, the payment will no longer associated with the original vendor, which can lead to inaccuracies in reporting.

Here's how you can change the vendor on payment check:

  1. Navigate to the Vendors tab and click Vendor Center.
  2. Choose the specific vendor, then double-click the transaction.
  3. Use the Vendor drop-down to change the vendor.
  4. Click Save & Close.

However, before making any changes, it's advisable to consult with an accountant or financial advisor to make sure you're recording your transactions correctly. If you don't have an accountant, we can help you find one: Find Accountant.
