Changing formatting for phone numbers and credit cards?

There isn't a way to change the fields so they format automatically like this.  For phone numbers you can enter them to suit, but not for credit card numbers, which must be just numbers.

I'd be delighted to guide you on how to change the format of your phone numbers in the invoice. 

You'll want to open to view the invoice, then follow the steps below: 

1. Click the Gear icon on the invoice page. 
2. Click the link that says: "Change what your customers see". 
3. When the invoice editing window comes up, select "Content", then the pencil icon for the invoice header.

From there, you can enter the phone and credit card numbers in the format you want. 

For credit cards, the option to modify them is currently unavailable.

Yes, the Gear icon is only available in QuickBooks Online version. The option to change the formatting for phone numbers and credit cards is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. However, we can create custom templates for forms where you can customize these templates to control how they look and what information to include. Here's how:

1. Go to the Lists menu and select Templates.
2. Choose the type of form you’d like to customize.
3. From the form, select the Formatting tab then select Manage Templates.
4. Select a template to preview, then select Copy to create a new template or select OK to edit the template.
5. Use the basic customization window to: Add your logo: Select the Use logo checkbox if you want your company logo to appear on your form. If you want to change your logo, tap the Select Logo option to select the image you want to use. Change fonts and colors: This section lets you personalize fonts and colors for certain details used in the form, like company name, labels, and data. Change company & transaction information: Here you can select the contact information you want to appear on the invoice. You can also change any of this information by selecting Update Information.
6. Tap Additional Customization to add or remove the items from the header, columns, or footer. Then select Layout Designer to move or resize items on the form.
7. When you’re done, press OK.
8. Hit Print Preview to see your form. If everything looks good, select Close.
9. Press OK.
