When trying to make an account inactive, I receive the following error: 

This account cannot be deleted because it is used by a recurring template or scheduled liability payment.

Hi there, @ehill624. Let me share some details about the error message you received when inactivating your account in the Chart of Accounts.

 

Upon checking, there's an ongoing investigation related to this matter. Rest assured that our product engineers have been notified and are working actively and diligently to resolve this issue as soon as possible. 

 

In the meantime, I recommend contacting our support team to add you to the list of affected users. By doing this, you'll be notified via email once a solution is available. Here are the steps to contact us:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Help menu and select the Search tab.
  3. Then, click Contact Us.
  4. Then, enter a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  5. Lastly, choose either Start a Chat or Get a Callback to start connecting with them.

We might if you Intuit reps didn't copy/paste that exact phrase into half of your responses, often for issues that then remain unresolved for months or even years.

 

There's no way that, 1) engineers are working actively and diligently, or that 2) they will resolve the issue as soon as possible. 

 

Among other things, "as soon as possible" is today, or tomorrow. It is quite possible to fix a stupid bug like this in a day. And I will bet you money that it will still be an issue tomorrow. And the next day. And the next.
