Chart of Accounts

When working in the Chart of Accounts file, why does it always go back to the beginning of the accounts after making an account inactive?  If I am in the expense portion of the accounts and I make a particular account inactive, afterwards, it always goes back to the beginning of the accounts (the income portion - pg. 1).  Then I have to start all over again and go back to where I left off.  This takes up quite a bit of time and is very frustrating.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Let me provide some information about the chart of accounts, palooza1.

 

For now, the chart of accounts will always default to the beginning of the list of accounts after you've made them inactive. You'll have to scroll your mouse so you'll be able to locate those accounts that were set as inactive before. Another way is to search the account on the search bar. But first, you'll have to include those inactive accounts so it would show up once you've typed it on the search field. I've added a screenshot for your visual guide:

 

 

After that, type the account on the search field so you'll be able to save time locating the account. 

 

 

Apart from this, QuickBooks provides dozens of reports that will show you your business standing. You'll just have to customize them so you'll be able to get the information you need. I've got this article for your guide: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.
