Check alignment

I use business checks with 3 to a page.  All of a sudden, when I print the 2nd and 3rd checks separately, the alignment is off.  It was working perfectly, now it's not.  What has happened and how do I get this to work again.

I see you're having some challenges with check alignment, ccbeth. Let me share information that could help you get through this.

Since you're printing your checks separately, you can locate the QBPrint.qbp file and rename it. This will allow you to save the printer setup and check customization.

Please know that terminal service users report finding duplicate copies of the Qbprint.qbp file with the stored client data files. Also, double-check all folders for odd instances.

Find the QBPrint.qbp:

  • Windows 10 and newer: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx (20xx represents the version of your QuickBooks.)
  • Server 2012 and newer: C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks YEAR and C:\Users\**remote user**\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\ YEAR VERSION\TSPrinterSettings

After that, you can use the following steps to rename the file. Take note that you don't have to do this for every transaction.

Here's how:

  1. Right-click the QBprint.qbp file for your QuickBooks version and select Rename.
  2. Add the word "old" to the file name (i.e. QBPrint.qbp.old)
  3. Open QuickBooks Desktop once again.
  4. Go to File and select Printer Setup.
  5. Select any transaction in the Form Name list and select OK. This will create a new QBprint.qbp file.
  6. Go back to the Check and print it to test if it's working correctly.

If you encounter any challenges when printing from QuickBooks Desktop, please refer to the following articles:
