Converting Account Types from QB Desktop to QBO - Full Chart of Accounts Type and Detail Mapping

Since QuickBooks hasn't published this. Here is a complete mapping of QuickBooks Desktop Chart of Accounts types and their corresponding QuickBooks Online Account Types (with correct syntax) and their associated QuickBooks Online Detail Types.

I was suprised not to be able to find this so I created it myself. It assists with being able to import a chart of accounts using the QuickBooks Online import tool if you're not uploading the entire desktop company file and only want to import a chart of accounts from QuickBooks Desktop. You'll be able to find the correct syntax for the account type and then a list of associated "detail types" that are required upon import but are not a feature of QuickBooks Desktop chart of accounts.

What happened to the mapping? Did Intuit delete the detailed mapping? This is very frustrating. QB Online plopped everything into "Other Misc Service Cost". Now, isn't that just dandy? I need a list of tax lines supported by account type.

I've checked and haven't found any information about QuickBooks removing the detailed mapping.

Thanks. I am an accountant and have been doing tax returns for 30 years. I have read the articles shown in the community "Learn about account types and detail types in QuickBooks Online" which has some information for a Schedule C self employed return; I am working on an S-Corporation return. When you chose an account type, QB online allows you to select an account detail, such as "Other Expense" type which allows you to select "Depreciation Expense" detail type. This is how you map to the tax return. When I imported my client, who was tax mapped in the desktop version, to QB online, all of the expenses were imported with one account type.

What I want is a list of account types and then what detail types are available for each account type. I cannot find this information and have to guess what detail types are hidden within an account type. "Expense" type has most of the normal expense detail types. I have noted that Other Expense type does not map for the tax return. I bit the bullet and spent 2 hours fixing this chart of accounts so I can then go on to the tax return. Yeah.
