Question

Creating annual donor tax receipts for a non-profit organization.

Non-profit organizations are required to create annual tax statements for their donors.  It is unbelievable that there is no version or platform in QuickBooks that performs this IRS mandated function.  Again, another proof that QuickBooks Online is the most worthless accounting software ever.  Any answers from the QuickBooks?

Hello there, @dlc092457.

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when things don't go as anticipated, especially when it disrupts your workflow and causes inconvenience. I empathize with your situation and want to assure you that I'm here to support you. Let's work together to find the right third-party application to help you locate donor tax receipts in QuickBooks Online. There are various third-party applications available for integration with QBO, each having unique features designed to cater to specific customer needs. Let me guide you on how you can look for an app that will fulfill your requirements.

Here's how:
  1. In your QBO account, go to Apps.
  2. Select Find apps.
  3. Type in keywords in the search bar or choose Browse categories

In case you need to disconnect an app, I'm adding a helpful article on how to transfer app ownership or disconnect apps in QBO.

Furthermore, if you want to learn how to track fund donations you receive via credit card, bank transfer, or cash in QuickBooks Online, here is an article: Track funds you receive from donors in QuickBooks Online

This is an answer, if it works.  It is a horrible answer.  Most non-profits can't afford the extra $250 to produce 260 tax receipts.  QB needs to develop the answer to this problem from within the program.  Don't market your product to non-profits if you can't provide the most basic need of the non-profit.

We shared your exact frustration, so we built our own app to meet this extremely important need. While it does have a monthly fee, it offers the ability to generate an unlimited number of statements and includes powerful and robust filtering options as well as other useful extras. Please feel free to check out our site at www.donorstatements.com.

QuickBooks Online is not designed to create donor statements, and won't. It is even hard to get a report with the right information, or maybe impossible.

Instead use our BRC Donor Statements - QB Online, which will create proper statements, including custom text, donation details, and has many other features as well.

Agreed! 2 hours trying to figure out a way to use the OOB Templates.  Very disappointed
