Is there a work around for backorders with QBO? We have a web order that came through paid on the last day of our fiscal year and we need to back order some items. Paid by credit card so needs to be entered in that fiscal year.  I know QBO doesn't have a backorder function so I need some kind of work around. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello there, Dawn.

Let me share some information regarding your concern about customer backorders in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I understand that having the backorder feature in QBO would make inventory management more convenient for you. However, at the moment, the feature is not yet available, and there's no confirmed date for its release.

You might want to explore third-party applications that specialize in inventory management and offer the features you needed. These applications can be connected to QBO, enabling you to handle backorders. To discover such applications, you can check this link: QuickBooks App Store.

You can also log in to your QuickBooks account and go to the Apps menu. Let me show you how:

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Apps from the menu tab.
  3. Click the magnifying glass to search.
  4. Enter a keyword in the search field.
  5. Then once you've picked one, click Get app now.

Furthermore, here is an article to learn more about backorders in QBO:

If you have any more questions or need further assistance with any QuickBooks-related concern please feel free to reach out, Dawn. We're here to help you navigate.

@Dawn Dockrill

Consider having an inventory management app with the backorder feature as the workaround. You can cancel it later once you have completed the order.
