Customer invoices

When creating an invoice for a customer I need to show what services are taxed and which ones are not.  The customer needs to see this.  I also need to show the tax rate that is being used to calculate the tax on the invoice.  I have customers in different cities with different rates and they need to see they are being charged correctly.  How do I do these?

To show what service have a tax when creating an invoice, it is advisable to use a standard or customized template rather than a modern one. This way, it will display a 'T' next to the amount indicating that they are subject to tax.

Moreover, to display the tax rate that is being used to calculate the invoice tax, manually enter it in the Description column for taxable services, based on the See the Math option available on the invoice page.

Thanks.  I'm seeing the 'T' when I print.  Sometimes I have items that the tax is already included, so I'm wondering how to just have the tax removed from 1 item.  For example, there would not be a 'T' after the price of just that item.  Going through and listing the taxes for each item individually is way too cumbersome.  I would actually like the tax rate shown in parentheses after the words 'sales tax'.  

sales tax  (10.35%)

This would be the most efficient and clear.

The option to remove the "T" symbol for taxed items and show the tax rate in parentheses is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We see consumer feedback as an opportunity to improve the numerous features of our products. We recommend sending your suggestions directly to our product developers. This enables them to review the options and consider incorporating them into a future update. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Hit Feedback.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

 

Alternatively, we can enter the tax rate in parentheses in the Description column. See the screenshot for your reference:
