Customer Search Bar

QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023: We track our clients with a job number and a name. When doing invoicing, I used to be able to type that job number in the search bar (we have several hundred clients), hit TAB then hit ENTER and the job would pull up. Now, I type it in, hit TAB then ENTER and it stays on the previous job I was working on and I have to go put it in again and click the search button with my mouse. Any ideas of why it doesn't work any more and/or how to fix it? I already checked in Preferences and "Pressing enter moves between fields" is turned on? I know it sounds like a tiny issue, but it has really been handy over the years and it's hard to break the habit of TAB/ENTER. Thanks for any help you can give!

I understand you need an easy and accessible job for your client, @SPELLC. Let me share to send feedback to our developer in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Since the only option available is to add notes on the cycle count, submitting product suggestions will help the QuickBooks Desktop improve your experience. This way, they'll see your recommendation and consider adding it to the next program update. 

 

Follow the steps below:

 

  1. Navigate to the Help icon.
  2. Next, click Send Feedback Online.
  3. Press the Product Suggestion.
  4. Select Type of Feedback, then choose any Product Area in the dropdown.
  5. Enter your name and email. Lastly, Send Feedback.

Did you even read my question? I have an easy and accessible client list....I used to be able to hit TAB then ENTER and it would take me to that client I specified in the search bar. That feature is no longer working, I just want to know how to make it work again....

Joining you here to offer additional help with the customer search bar, SPELLC.

 

I tried looking for a specific job using the steps you shared and it has worked on my end. 

 

We have a tool that can fix some of the most common errors and unexpected results when working in the program. This includes screen and display issues in certain pages. 

 

Here's how to use it: 

 

  1. Close QuickBooks and download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). You can look it up in your Downloads folder or in the location you selected when you downloaded it.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Once done, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. Once opened, look for Program Problems, then select Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.
