Deleted Reconciliation and Bank History help

We were trying to fix a transaction on our Bank rec and while being helped the QB Expert instructed us to perform an action that resulted in un-reconciling our account back to October 2022. All of our banking history was also deleted and we can't recover it since we switched Banks back in October. Our beginning balance is off now and we can't move forward without correcting it to the correct beginning balance for October. Has anyone had a similar issue and what were you able to do to resolve the issue?

Hi there, Morgan.

I understand the importance of bringing those transactions back into your QuickBooks Online (QBO). Since the following are no longer available on your bank feeds. You’ll need to manually import this into your company file.

If you still have access to your previous financial institution’s website, I suggest logging in to your account and downloading your transactions. To start, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your bank website.
  2. Follow the instructions on how to download your transactions as a CSV file.
  3. Once downloaded, navigate to the Gear icon in your QuickBooks account.
  4. Select Import data and choose Bank data.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps under Manually upload your transactions.
  6. Review the column headers and data then click Continue to start the import.

You may also check out this article for more information: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Then, to fix your beginning balance for October, I have here a great resource for your reference: Enter and manage opening balances in QuickBooks Online.

During the process, it would be best to consult with your accountant. This way, they can guide you thoroughly and avoid messing up your books. Once done, you can start reconciling your account again to avoid any discrepancies.

Let me know if you have more concerns with any QuickBooks-related matters. Have a good one!
