Question

Do I have the right version of Quickbooks for self-employment

I am a self-employed sole proprietor and was looking to Qucikbooks to help me calculate my quarterly taxes and self-employment taxes. The person in the Quickbooks sales chat yesterday recommended I get Quickbooks Simple Start with the Online Payroll Core package.  But now I learn there is a product called Quickbooks Self-Employed which sounds simpler.

Do I have the right thing, and if not is there a way for me to switch without having to re-enter my transactions?

Hello there, @Martin11_2.

QuickBooks Self-Employed is also convenient since it's the most simple and easy to navigate. Furthermore, QuickBooks Self-Employed is capable of computing federal estimated quarterly taxes Nonetheless, it doesn't have the functionality to calculate state estimated quarterly taxes.

On the other hand, If you're seeking a QuickBooks product that can automatically calculate quarterly taxes, QuickBooks Online Simple Start would be the most suitable option.

Moreover, if you opt for QuickBooks Self-Employed, you will require a migration tool that can transfer files automatically. Otherwise, you will need to manually enter the files.

Here is a comprehensive overview of the various functionalities available, the setup process, and how QuickBooks effectively tracks all your activities throughout the year: Overview of QuickBooks Self-Employed.
