Question

Do I need my own TCC number to efile 1099 forms thru QB Online, or does the system use it's own number to efile these forms?

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, sff-melallp-com.

Transmitter Control Codes (TCC) are identifiers the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) uses to distinguish different electronic filing companies.

If you'd rather not use QuickBooks to e-file, you can file 1099s directly with the IRS using their new Information Returns Intake System (IRIS). To e-file in IRS, you'll need to register for a TCC. It can take up to 45 days to receive your code once submitting the registration. You can learn more about the requirements and how to register on their website, in their E-file Forms 1099 with IRIS article.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with 1099s which may come in handy moving forward: Understand the IRS regulations for filing 1099s

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great Monday!
