Question

Do we need to file a corrected 1099 if we mistakenly put a temporary/incorrect US address for a contractor who's a US citizen but permanently lives abroad?

Per QB Help Page:
"Wrong company or contractor address
You don't need to issue a corrected 1099 for an ‌incorrect address."

Does this still apply when the address was filed incorrectly as a U.S. address when it should have been a foreign one? Contractor is worried about state filings.

Hello there, dtessmer.

It is important to address any corrections for 1099s at the earliest convenience.

To confirm if there's a need for you to file a corrected 1099 for mistakenly putting a temporary/incorrect US address for a contractor, I suggest contacting the IRS or a tax professional. They can provide more details about the correction process.

If you need to access your previous tax payments and forms in the future, you can check out this comprehensive guide on how to view your previously filed tax forms and payments.
