Question

Does anyone know why the mileage auto tracking button won't stay on? It turns off by itself now. Seems like this started around the beginning of the year.

This is a huge issue for me because I turn of my location so that it doesn't kill my battery when I'm at home. I turn it back on when I leave but the mileage tracking doesn't turn back on like it used to.

Here are some of the possible causes why this has happened and how to resolve it:

 

  • Outdated app version - Ensure that your QBO app is updated to the latest version to ensure the functionality of the auto tracking feature.
  • Check app permissions - Head to your device settings and ensure the that the app has the necessary permissions to access your location and run in the background. Since you've stated that you're turning off your location when you arrived at your home and turn on again when you leave, I recommend changing the QBO location permission to allow all the time. Doing this will automatically turn on your location if QBO auto tracking is triggered. You'll still be able to preserve your battery even if you turn off your location after arriving at your home. However, you'll need to make sure you open QBO mobile app again before you start driving to ensure your device location is tracked by QBO auto tracking feature.
  • Battery Optimization settings - Almost all devices nowadays have a feature called battery optimization. This ensures your battery is optimized to maximize battery life. However, enabling this will restrict most of your application settings that uses too much of your battery. This includes QBO location permission. I recommend turning off Low Power mode or Battery Optimization before you start driving.

After dealing with all the matters above and the problem persists, I recommend reinstalling your QBO mobile app to ensure the feature is working perfectly.
