Question

Entering and managing drop ship orders

For drop ship orders, we create them from order entry but there is nothing on the order that reflects that a PO has been created.  In fact, viewing the order in Fulfillment Worksheet, it looks like any other order which means there is a possibility that it could be double processed or even shipped from our own warehouse (in the case of items that could be drop shipped or stocked).

I would like to find a way to make it easy to know that an order has had a drop-ship order created in any view or report.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out to us, Dennis.

Let me share the details about why purchase orders are not reflected in the Sales Fulfillment Worksheet in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Technically, the Sales Order Fulfillment Worksheet only reflects the customer workflow, such as invoicing and sales orders. As a result, it won't indicate that a purchase order is generated. It's indeed a two-way process, and you'll want to create a purchase order separately.

For more information about the Sales Order Fulfillment Worksheet, please see this article: Use the Sales Order Fulfillment Worksheet.

In QBDT, you can ship and package directly using UPS, USPS, and FedEx through QuickBooks Shipping Manager. With the help of this add-on, the client address information from invoices or sales receipts is pre-filled on the mailing labels.

If you have any clarifications about drop-ship orders, please don't hesitate to leave a reply. We're always here to assist you further. Keep safe, and have a good one!
