Payment for what? Receive payments from your invoices or pay your bills to vendors?

Let me walk you through the steps to successfully connect your bank in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before I begin, may I request more information about the bank you're using and the specific error you encountered? I would appreciate any additional information so that I can present accurate solutions.

For the time being, I recommend visiting your bank's website to see if there are any problems with your financial institution. This way, you can also check to see if your bank has any notifications that need to be addressed, which could cause an error when connecting the bank to QBO.

  1. Go to the Banking menu on the left panel.
  2. Select Link account. You won’t add an account, you just need the listed URL.
  3. Search for your bank and select it. Then, copy the URL listed for your bank.
  4. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website using the copied URL.

If you can sign in after that, it's a good sign that there isn't a major problem. Then, check the steps below to see if there are any messages.

  1. Check your account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Look for any display issues as you navigate the website. These can block QuickBooks to connect with your bank.
  3. Check your bank’s website for any announcements about new security requirements.

You can open this article to view extra details: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online. This also provides different banking errors and how to fix them.

In addition, I've listed another possible reason why you can't connect your bank to the program.

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

To fix the issue, you may click this article to see various instructions on how to resolve the problem: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

On the other hand, if you mean that your customers want to pay you quickly and easily, we can set up Autopay for recurring invoices. You can find the steps and details in this article: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Lastly, you can refer to this article for instructions on how to review downloaded bank and credit card entries by matching or adding them to the correct accounts: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please do not hesitate to click the Reply button below and provide additional information about your issue, as I want to ensure that this is resolved. I'll be happy to provide additional information and assistance whenever you require it.
