Error message uploading 1099s

I am attempting to upload my 1099s to tax1099 from Quickbooks desktop for Mac (2022), and I am getting error messages for both of the companies that I support.  Both messages say "Company information problem".  One message says the company file is missing a phone number, and the other says the company file must have a complete legal address.  I double checked the company preferences and that information is complete in both cases.

I have called Quickbooks support and also contacted tax1099 support, but neither could help. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a successful resolution?

Thank you for promptly informing us of the issue you've experienced, @jaabern218. I'm here to help.

By default, the details in your 1099s depend on the information in the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac's Company Preferences. The error messages you're encountering when trying to upload your 1099s suggest that there might be a mismatch or an issue with the way your company information is or recognized by the tax1099 system, even though the information is complete in QBDT for Mac.

To resolve this, I recommend double-checking your Company Preferences information and ensuring that there aren't any special characters or additional spaces in the company information fields that might be causing the issue.

  1. In your QBDT, Go to Preferences.
  2. From the Preferences pane, select My Company.
  3. Double-check the Address, Phone Number, Fax Number, Website, and Email address.

If this doesn't fix the problem, you can run the Verify and Rebuild tool to help identify if this is a data integrity problem. Here's how:

  1. Select File, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  3. If you see “Your data has failed the integrity check,” you need to rebuild your file to fix any errors or data damage that's found.
  4. Select File, then select Utilities.
  5. Select Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  6. QuickBooks will ask you to make a backup before rebuilding your company file, select OK. If you don’t want to do a backup, select Cancel to continue rebuilding your company file.
         a. If you haven’t set up any backup preferences, QuickBooks will ask you to update
them. Select Backup Preferences and edit as needed, then select OK.
         b. When the backup's finished, select Show in Finder to locate the backup or select OK if you’re done.
  7. Once the rebuild is finished, select OK.
  8. Upload your 1099s to tax1099 again.

It's also best to ensure that you have the latest features and fixes available. Let me add this reference in updating your QBDT for Mac 2022 software: Update QuickBooks for Mac to the latest release.

Let us know on the situation if you still encounter errors uploading 1099s from both of your company files to tax1099. We'll do our best to assist. Take care.
