Hi Folks,

Today I was informed that my license for QuickBooks Pro Desktop had expired. I have legacy data in company files that I cannot read. How do I exercise my option to read my company data?

Thanks for the help,

Liliana.

Thanks for using QuickBooks to manage your business transactions, Marili. I recognize the necessity of viewing your legacy data, so I'm here to help you retrieve it.

Before proceeding, kindly provide the year version of your QuickBooks Desktop Pro. This information will help me give you the detailed steps needed for your company data.

In the meantime, you can access your old backup using the QuickBooks trial versions. Before that, it's crucial to note that once your company file opens with an upgraded version, it becomes incompatible with the older ones. Therefore, I recommend preserving an extra copy of your company file.

Moreover, please ensure the file is compatible with the QBDT version and your computer meets the system requirements to prevent any difficulties or errors. For detailed guidance on downloading the trial version, refer to this article: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.

Once downloaded, you can now restore the file. Here's how:

1. Open QuickBooks.
2. Click the File menu, then select Open or Restore Company.
3. Restore the file based on its file type.

For additional guidelines, please see this resource: Restore your File. You also have the option to store your old files on a flash drive. Once you're prepared to view the data, you can restore it in the program.

Additionally, this guidebook will help you navigate the interface of the new trial version of QBDT: QuickBooks Enterprise 24.0 In-Depth Guide.

You can update me after performing the steps outlined by tagging my name in your reply. I want to ensure everything is resolved for you. I'll be here for your response. Stay safe!
