Glitch in Point of Sale

When making a sale and searching for the item and clicking on it, a message pops up that says, "No matching items found for: abcd. To add this item, select 'Add as New Item.'" If you cancel out of the pop up and type in the item number, it comes right up on the screen like normal. Why is it doing this and is there a way to fix it?

It's important to seamlessly keep track of company sales, emily. I'd like to share some insights and help you isolate the issue.

There's currently no known issue with the error message that appears when you create a sale transaction in QuickBooks Point of Sale. You're likely experiencing an integrity issue on your company file.

I suggest we use the Verify and Rebuild Utility tool. This resolves the most common known data problem. Below are also reasons to use the tool.

  • Fatal errors when you use QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Discrepancies on reports, such as invoices or bills that post with a negative value.
  • Deposited payments show up in the Payments to Deposit window.
  • Balance sheet reports do not show all accounts.
  • Names are missing from lists.
  • Transactions are missing.
  • Run a well-data checkup to make sure your company file is error-free.

Here's how to verify and rebuild data:

  1. Open the File menu.
  2. Click on Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data.
  4. Wait for it to load.
  5. Open the File menu once more.
  6. Click on Utilities, then hit Rebuild Data.
  7. Select OK once you get the "Rebuild has completed" message.
