The GL account is a rebate/commissions account and it's in the income section not COGS.

I can assist you with information on handling 1099s in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @-krispymixes-com.

To track your 1099s, you can add a new account by going to the Chart of Accounts. If you're unsure about what payment types you made to contractors this year, you can refer to the IRS’s instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC, or consult your accountant.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon () and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on New. Depending on your account view, you’ll either see a panel labeled New account or New category
  3. Provide all the necessary information.
  4. Select Save once you're done.
  5. Repeat this process for each new account to be reported on the 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC.

Once you're done, you can add journal entries to move amounts to show in the newly created 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC accounts.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the + New button and select Journal Entry.
  2. Fill out the fields to create your journal entry.
  3. Select Save and new or Save and close.
  4. Repeat this process for each payment you need to move.
