I'll explain in detail how importing contacts works in QuickBooks Online (QBO), rmugrabi, and offer a way available for you.

In the event of an incorrect import, re-importing your file can lead to duplicates in QuickBooks Online since the system does not overwrite the existing contacts automatically.

What we can do is make the incorrectly imported contacts inactive before re-importing them into QBO. Let me show you how to do it:

  1. Go to Sales and select Customers.
  2. Choose the customer or vendor.
  3. Click the dropdown arrow beside Edit.
  4. Select Make inactive.

By doing this, we'll clear them from your active list, allowing us to go ahead and re-import the file with the correct details.

I'm sharing this article to learn more about the things before you import contacts in QBO: Import customers or vendors from email contacts to QuickBooks Online.
