I'm here to help you file your 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Paul.

QBO allows you to file your 1099 forms directly within the program. However, since it is now past May 1, you will need to manually file them outside the program. No worries, you can still complete the 1099 form within QBO and print it for manual submission.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Contractors.
  2. Click Prepare 1099s.
  3. Check that your company info (name, email, address, tax ID) matches IRS records. Click Edit for any changes. Once done, select Confirm info and get started.
  4. Hit Select accounts and confirm or choose the accounts for 1099 expenses. Then, click Add.
  5. For each account, select either the 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC box for the type of payments made to contractors. Then click Next to proceed.
  6. Under the Tracked for 1099, check the box next to each contractor who should receive a 1099. Ensure their personal info and email is correct. Click Edit if changes are needed.
  7. If a contractor is missing, go to Not tracked for 1099. Click Add to tracked list to move them to the Tracked for 1099 tab, then click Back.
  8. Review the Reportable total for each contractor and click Next.
  9. Select Preview to review each 1099 form. Click Continue to 1099-MISCs to view your 1099-MISC forms, then click Next.
  10. Choose I’ll print and mail to print and mail the forms yourself.

Please refer to this article for more details: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can also access and download the 1099 form on the IRS website by going to this link: IRS Form 1099. Then, run a vendor transaction report to get the necessary data to complete your 1099 form. Once done, you can manually submit it to the appropriate agency.

Additionally, you can run payroll reports to get an overview of your company's payroll activities.
