Question

How can I remove a vehicle from my account? I never added it and I don't have a business vehicle. This vehicle is transferred to my TurboTax filing and causes issues.

I appreciate you bringing this up in the Community and entrusting us with your concern regarding a vehicle mistakenly linked to your account, @info2098. I can see how perplexing this situation must be, especially since it's impacting your filings, even if you don't own a business vehicle. Let's work together to sort this out for you smoothly.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), there isn’t a direct way to remove or delete an incorrectly linked vehicle. However, you can mark it as Vehicle No Longer in Use. This process will change its status to Inactive, which helps manage your records without permanently deleting any information.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigational panel, look for the Expenses tab.
  2. Select Mileage.
  3. Click Manage vehicles.
  4. From there, you can choose the vehicle you'd like to remove by tapping Vehicle no longer in use.

That's it, this will now show under the Inactive section. If in case you're unable to see the button, it can be that this is set to a Primary vehicle. You have to make other vehicles as primary to be able to make that particular vehicle inactive.

Additionally, I've got you this article that'll help you record business miles for one or more vehicles: Automatically track mileage in QuickBooks Online.

Lastly, to enhance the efficiency of your accounting practices and ensure impeccable financial records, I highly recommend considering QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping.
