I can share some information about adding subtotal lines in invoices, @AlpineApp

Currently, the new invoice layout on QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have the Subtotals option, which would be a valuable addition to our features, so I'll take note of this.

Although some features may not be currently available with the new invoice layout, we are actively working on making them accessible and possible. Our priority is to ensure that you have the best experience possible with the current version of QuickBooks that you're using.

I also encourage you to leave feedback from within the product.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Provide your product suggestion.
  3. Click on Next to submit feedback.

You can check out this article for more information about providing feedback to make the program better: How do I submit feedback?

If you require the Subtotals option, you may want to switch back to the old layout for the time being. Please take note that if you initially had the old layout and then upgraded to the new layout, you'll no longer have the option to switch back to the old layout.

Refer to this article to see what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online. It'll tell you more about the features that we currently have and are not yet available.

Once you receive customer payments, here's how you record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you need further information about subtotal lines in your invoices on QBO. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of the day!

The issue is not "solved" when you tell the client that their concern is just flat-out being removed and then give them a bunch of nonsense they didn't ask for.

I understand having this feature will be great and easier to use the new invoice template, and great news subtotals in invoices are now available. Follow these steps to add the feature:

  1. On the left side panel, click +New.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. Provide details such as products and services.
  4. Hit the Add products and services dropdown.
  5. Click Add Subtotal.

Moreover, let me share this article to help you customize your estimates and sales receipts in the future: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you still have questions about managing your invoices. I'll be here to assist you. Have a great day, and take care.

@JoanaC  This works. You can drag Subtotal line to location on invoice as needed. Thank you!

Different categories of merchandise are taxed at different rates. The only way to do this on a customer sales receipt is with a subtotal line added after all items taxed at one rate. I can't even enter a sales receipt properly or track my sales tax due to my state. QB Pro online sucks!
