How do I add multiple "Customer" and "Pay Rates" for Payroll in QB Online?

I'm thinking about switching to QB Online from QB Desktop.

However, I am wondering whether QB Online can do this Payroll feature as in QB Desktop?

Our company runs payroll once a month.

I can't seem to find this kind of tutorials or instructions online.

 

Here is a screenshot of QB Desktop "Preview Paycheck" below.

In QB Desktop, I am able to add multiple pay rates, number of hours worked and customer for one employee before running the payroll.

Does QB Online has this feature as well? If so, where can I do this?

It seems like, from tutorials I watched online, QB Online is only able to do this using the "Weekly timesheet" - what if I only have a total of number of hours worked in a month?

Also, am I able to add multiple lines (with varied rates, hours worked and customers) as in the screenshot below from QB Desktop?

Adding multiple hourly rates for your employees in QuickBooks Online is possible.  Let me walk you through this process. Simply follow these steps to set up different hourly rates for the same employee:

 

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Click the employee's name, then click Edit employee.
  3. Under How much do you pay this employee?, select Add additional pay types.
  4. Click Add an hourly rate.
  5. Add s description and enter a dollar amount for the hourly rate.
  6. Select Done.

 

When you create paychecks, these rates will appear in the table. All you need to do is enter the hours.

 

You can now process your payroll in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Does QB Online has "Preview Paycheck" feature as in QB Desktop?

I followed your steps as in your instruction, but this doesn't really get me to the "Preview Paycheck" feature as in QB Desktop, where I can just add multiple rates and hours for multiple customers for one employee in a payroll run.

 

Does QB offer Payroll trial so I can decide whether to go thru with QB Online or stay in QB Desktop?

There's a slight difference between QuickBooks Online payroll and QuickBooks Desktop payroll; QBO and QBDT are separate programs with different functionality.

 

Thus, adjusting the rates and hours for your employee after running payroll is unavailable. You have the option to preview  your payroll  while creating a paycheck in QBO Payroll. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Run payroll.
  2. Choose a pay schedule, then Continue.
  3. Select the employees you want to pay.
  4. Fill in the necessary information.
  5. Click Preview Payroll.
  6. Select Edit if there's a need to update.
  7. Once ready, click Submit payroll.
