I've uploaded a list of new inventory products and want to assign them to existing categories, but there was no was to do it as a part of the upload. Do I need to assign them one by one?

We strive to provide the best product experience possible, user999999.

I understand how important it is for your company to bulk assign products to inventory categories. However, this option is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We see consumer feedback as an opportunity to improve the numerous features of our products. I'd recommend giving our engineers direct feedback. They may look into this suggestion and incorporate it into future updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Hit Feedback.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I've attached screenshots below for your reference:

Furthermore, you can visit this page to stay up to date on the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online. Alternatively, we can add an existing product or service to a category. Here's how:

  1. Go to Get paid & pay or Sales, then select Products & services.
  2. Find the product or service you want to categorize.
  3. Tap Edit from the Action column.
  4. Select the Category dropdown, then select one that fits this item. You can also select + Add new to create a new one.
  5. Press Save and close.

You'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with assigning products to inventory categories in bulk. Check out this link for a list of QuickBooks-compatible apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Apps on the left side menu.
  2. Search for the app in the Find apps to streamline your work field.
  3. Look for an app that supports the Batch feature.

Any questions about integrating the app into your Online account should be directed to the app's third-party provider. Also, to assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.
