How do I get the total 2023 amounts from Quickbooks Online in order to file the 1099-DIV forms?

From last year's filings by an outside party, I can see that three persons should get for 1099-DIV.  I understand that unlike the other 1099 forms, I cannot file the 1099-DIV with Quickbooks Online.  I did not locate a 3rd party app like the internet response gave.  Could you please give me instructions with links, so I may complete this task?  Thank you.

Hello there, @Mark11_2.

 

At the moment, QBO cannot handle 1099-DIV filing. Instead, QBO concentrates on creating data for the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC forms. To obtain the total amounts for your 2023, you can generate the 1099 Transaction Detail report. Let me guide you on how:

 

  1. Go to Reports and search for the 1099 Transaction Detail report.
  2. Make sure to set the Report period to This year.
  3. Select Customize then Filter.
  4. From here you can choose a 1099 box, Type of Contractors, or Box Threshold.
  5. Click Run Report.

 

Note: Reports will default to the Last Calendar Year, so be sure the report is set up for the correct date range next to Dates at the top of the report. For more details on running a 1099 report, see this article: Create 1099 reports in QuickBooks.

It appears that I need to wait and get the official red copy of the form from IRS.gov mailed to me for the 1099-DIV.   The IRS imposes penalties for copying and using the form on their site because it is not scannable.  I am working on getting the printing lined up with my ink jet printer.  If you have suggestions on how to do this, let me know.

 

I did not find any other app to electronically file this form with the IRS directly.

 

I have successfully sent out the individual forms to the respected parties after reviewing the dividends sent in 2023.
