Hi,

I was using Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 for the 8 years now I am transitioning to Quickbooks online. I would like to transfer my 2024 Income and expenses to QBO using excel. Does anyone have a template that they can share?

Hello, @ColeyTH. As you make the important transition to QuickBooks Online (QBO), I'm here to personally guide you through the process of importing your income and expenses using Excel. Here's a tailored, step-by-step guide to assist you in this journey:

First, download your 2024 income and expenses from Microsoft Dynamic SL into an Excel or CSV format. Ensure your data is organized into clear columns, including the date, description, amount, and category. These are the 3 and 4-column formats and make sure that the maximum file size is 350 KB. If the file is too large, adjust the date range and download the transactions in smaller batches.

The 3-column format

This format has a Date, Description, and Amount column.

The 4-column format

It includes the Date, Description, Credit, and Debit columns.

Once done, let's now upload the file to QBO. I will show you how:

  1. Go to Transactions. Select Bank transactions.
  2. Click the drop-down beside the Link account and then tap Upload from file.
  3. Select Drag and drop or select files, then choose the file you downloaded. Then Continue.
  4. From the QuickBooks account dropdown menu, pick the account where you wish to upload your transactions. Click Continue to proceed.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to align the columns in your file with the corresponding fields in QuickBooks. After mapping, select Continue.
  6. Choose the specific transactions you want to import. Then click Continue.
  7. Select Yes to confirm and click Done to complete.

After importing, categorize and match your transactions in the For Review tab to ensure accurate financial records. Then, reconcile your QuickBooks Online account with your bank statement to confirm data accuracy.

@ColeyTH

You can purchase a 3rd party conversion service. If you prefer to migrate yourself, you can use an importer tool. You will start from COA, List, then finally Transactions.
