how do I print the 1096 to mail with 1099's

Thank you for posting here in the Community, highviewfarm. I'm here to help you print a 1096 form in QuickBooks Online.

 

If you're filing electronically, the IRS doesn't require Form 1096. While it seems that you're filing manually, QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Contractor Payments do not provide Form 1096.

 

Since Form 1096 is a summary of information on your Form 1099 for the tax year, we can print it by following the steps below:

 

  1. At the left panel, go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select 1099 filings, then click the View summary button.

 

 

You can also download the 1096 form from the IRS website and enter the information from your 1099 forms. This way, you can print them outside the program.

The IRS mailed me their official 1096 form. All I want to do is print it???

You're right that you must print the 1096 Form outside the application, as the application does not provide this form for filing. 

 

Since the IRS has already mailed you their official 1096 Form, what we can do from QuickBooks is to ensure you have the accurate data to enter. With that, we can view a summary of your e-filed 1099s from the 1099s filing tab:

 

  1. Go to the Taxes menu and select 1099 filings.
  2. Select View Summary.

 

Once you have prepared the form, you can submit or mail it manually to the IRS.
