Hello there, @Mike in Bend. I'll share some information on how you can import your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to TurboTax.

The ability to import directly to Turbo Tax is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. You'll need to first export QBO data to QuickBooks Desktop before importing it into Turbo Tax.

If you don't have your own QuickBooks Desktop account yet, you can download the free trial of QBDT.

Once you're finished downloading the product, you'll need to export the data to QBDT. From there, you can start moving your QBDT tax information to TurboTax.

For more detailed steps on how to import QuickBooks data to TurboTax, you can refer to this article: How do I import QuickBooks data into TurboTax Business?.

Feel free to get back if you have a hard time with the export process. I'll be here to assist you. Stay safe!

You can either wait until prompted by TurboTax to import your brokerage statements (e.g., Form 1099-B or Form 1099-DIV), or you can go directly to the import feature by searching for “import” in the search box (top right in the TurboTax interface), then selecting the option to Jump to Import.

You can either wait until prompted by TurboTax to import your brokerage statements (e.g., Form 1099-B or Form 1099-DIV), or you can go directly to the import feature by searching for “import” in the search box (top right in the TurboTax interface), then selecting the option to “Jump to Import.”

So you are telling me that:

1.  I can't even buy the desktop version of qb anymore

2.  The online version of qb is not compatible with turbo tax business

3.  You want me to sign up for a trial and then use turbo tax?

All of it sounds utterly ridiculous!  Surely you have figured out how to connect turbo tax business with qb online.

Yeh, this has sent me searching for an alternative to this scam. It is ridiculous that we have to waste our time, after using QBO for a year, looking for a way to import our business data into TurboTax. I guess the number of QuickBooks and TurboTax products really says it all about Intuit.... they're just looking to sell you another product and another product and another product. They don't really care about creating a great product.

Spent hours with tech support and they finally admited there is no way to import online Quickbooks into Turbo tax. So they push you into using online after years of using desktop but now offer no way to import to Turbo tax even though they own both companies??? Pathetic.

I have been doing this song and dance for the past several years and I am HOPING things have changed. Do we still need to download and install the trial desktop software for Quickbooks, go online and download our online QBO data to a desktop, then try to import the datafile (if it downloads correctly) into the trial desktop version of quickbooks and then try to link that to turbo tax? Can this still be the current method?!? (Crossing my fingers VERY hard that something has changed for the better!

Hello there, @theblackbow.

I understand how sending your data to Turbotax can be time-consuming. However, the process remains the same.

You can proceed with downloading our free trial version so you can convert the data from QBO. For the complete guide, refer to this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, follow these steps to transfer them to TurboTax:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax and go to the File menu.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Click the From Accounting Software.
  4. Select QuickBooks (2021) and click Continue.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Being able to transfer information from QuickBooks Online to Turbotax directly is convenient. Since this feature is unavailable, I encourage you to send a request to our product developers. Rest assured that they will review and consider it for future updates depending on the number of users' requests.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.

Cannot import my company data from QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 to TurboTax Business 2023. I have installed all updates to both QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and TurboTax Business 2023 and re-started my computer.
