Afaik it's irreversible. You can only open a new blank QBO account and migrate your data from old account or purchase a third party migration service.

Switch to Freshbooks, they have all the features QB took away

Thanks for visiting us here, @ceversole. I can share the steps to switch your invoice layout back to the new experience in QuickBooks Online.

If you prefer the new experience, you can switch back any time. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the + New.
  2. Choose Invoice or Estimate.
  3. Once done, click Try the new invoices.

You can switch to either the old or the new experience at any time. QuickBooks saves all the info from your previous estimates and invoices to ensure that you don't lose your work. Also, when you change between the new and old experiences, the design shown to your customers will change.

Additionally, you can check out this guide where you can customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Don't hesitate to reply anytime if you still have questions or concerns about managing invoices. I am always here to help. Take care, and have a great day ahead.

Thanks for the tips. I seem to be missing something though.

I clicked on + New, chose Invoice, and then the attached page came up and I never saw an option for Try the new invoices

Any other tips?

Thanks so much for the help!

Hi @ceversole,

Thanks for getting back to us. Looking at the attached photo, it looks like you're still on the old invoice layout. The option to switch to the new estimate and invoice layout has been rolled out to some customers only for feedback purposes.

If you don't see the new feature from your account, your company file isn't included in the first batches rolled out. You'll want to wait on the next set of batches for now. You'll get a notification or an email about it when it's available.

Refer to this article for more information about the feature: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding this link in case you need help managing customer-relates tasks. It has our general customer topics with articles, some videos, and topics about your company's income and customers: Sales and customers.

Reach back to us anytime if you have follow-up questions or concerns about invoice templates. We're here for you. Take care.

The same thing happened to me which is extremely frustrating because I was using the "take deposit" feature that is missing on the old layout.

I spoke with support chat and they are supposedly going to restore my access to it (we'll see if that actually happens) but that it's going to take 24 hours.

So if you're okay not sending out invoices on the new experience layout for 24 hours maybe support chat is worth a shot...

Quick update...

After spending many hours on support chat I finally decided to schedule a support call.

Tech was very knowledgeable and was able to find out that since I had been switched back to the old layout, I wouldn't be able to get back into the new layout.

Yay :/

Hopefully they finish the rollout soon.

Switch to Freshboks, they have all the features QB took away

I opened my QuickBooks account this morning to invoice a customer and the whole format has changed.

is it possible to go back to the way my site worked? And if not where is the tutorial to learn the new ?
      Thank you

I appreciate you for posting your concern here today, @Patw2. I'm here to provide some insights about the tag feature in the new invoice layout format of QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can refer to the steps provided by my peer, KurtKyle_M, above if you use the new invoice layout in your QBO. Just click the Try the new invoices.

At any point, you can choose to have the old or new experience. To prevent you from losing your work, QuickBooks keeps all the data from your past estimates and invoices.

For additional details on the new invoice experience in QBO, see this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

You can also refer to this guide to learn how to customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Do you people even understand your own software? Once QB decides to migrate you over to the "old Invoices" you CANNOT go back. You people copy and paste the same nonsense and you cannot go back.

I was also affected by this a few months ago with no notice and after multiple calls and useless posts, I was told "sorry there is no way to go back, this was a beta feature and may or may not come back".
