Question

How do you correct inventory that was entered on the inventory sku instead of creating a bill without causing duplicates?

Good day, @cindyr1015. It'll be my pleasure to address your inventory concern in the program.

To do that, I need to ask a few questions. Can you share how you entered the inventory into the inventory SKU? To lay down the solution of correcting inventory, are you referring to adjusting the quantity? Are you also using an SKU generator? More details would definitely help us narrow down the issue.

Any other information will help me provide an accurate resolution. I look forward to your reply. Have a great day.

Under inventory, my husband created SKU for the parts that he is selling with the repairs. Up until recently as we were buying new parts, we were not creating a bill and adding the individual items.  He was going into the inventory screen under products and services, pulling up that item (SKU) and adding the quantity he purchased. We were then creating an expense for that vendor with the total dollar amount we paid and listing it as parts. we have since realized our error and would like to correct what we entered wrong without causing the inventory counts to be way off. Please advise how I can correct these. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for the additional details, cindyr1015.

To fix your records, especially the inventory tracking part, we would normally have to re-enter everything. But that's a very time-consuming process.

A better option is to consult with an accounting expert, like a Pro-Advisor if possible. They might be able to provide guidance on correcting your records without going through the hassle of re-entering all your inventory items and transactions. See this: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
