Question

How do you track Subcontractor payments to be included in WorkSafe BC submission? I can't seem to add a custom field to my suppliers, is there another way?

Great to see you here, @anjana-mindfulco.

In QuickBooks Online, there isn't a way to include the subcontractor payments to workers' compensation. To keep track of this, we'll need to set up your sub-contractors as an employee and run a payroll check.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Workers menu on the left menu.
  2. Select the Employees tab.
  3. Choose the Add employee button and enter the employee's information.
  4. Lastly, click Done.

After that, we can already run payroll for that employee.

With regards to adding a custom field in the supplier profile, this is currently unavailable. Alternatively, you can utilize the Other section on the Vendor page.

Moreover, I've attached these links for future reference. It contains insights on how to manage workers' compensation:

Feel free to post again if you have further questions about tracking the sub-contractor. I want to make sure this is taken care of for you. Stay safe, and have a good day!

I am trying to do this but there is a mandatory vacation pay and no way to turn off the tax withholding. Is it advisable to set up a subcontractor as an employee in quickbooks?
